For some time we have recognised that although our business is currently successful, now is the time to move onwards and upwards - or as Charles Handy (The Empty Raincoat) put it more elegantly – “If you keep on going the way you are, you will miss the road to the future”. However, that is easier said than done. Anyone familiar with the process of organisational change will recognise that it is usually painful and difficult – and often fails altogether. So where do you start, especially whilst your business seems to be going well and everyone is happy in their comfort zones.
The starting point for us was a day session at Clear Vision HQ. Rob led a well structured, in depth discussion about what our personal goals were and how those fitted with our ambitions for the business. By the end of the day we had reviewed the roles of the 3 directors, drafted a revised organisational chart and agreed a list of clear action points to be accomplished within the following two months. Just as important, we felt immensely enthused with a clear sense of purpose and renewed sense of direction.
After this initial experience, we felt no hesitation in asking Clear Vision to continue working with us at Board level to drive the process forward. Now, several months further on, we have had two more meetings, one to clarify our vision for the future and the other a days brainstorming to help develop our strategy to meet the ambitious objectives we now feel confident to set ourselves.
